An easy, weeknight dinner that’s flavorful and seared to perfection.
It’s grilling season baby! These healthy Jalapeno Turkey Burgers are delicious, savory and have just enough kick. All you need is 4 simple ingredients and 15 minutes to get this meal on the table. Whether you’re firing up the grill for dinner or looking for an easy meal prep option, this recipe is your go-to.
Hi hi 🙂 We’re half way through the month which means summer is just around the corner! And if you’re like my family, we’ve dusted off the grill a long time ago.
I love having so many more dinner options to choose from AND since my husband is the “grill master,” (yes, that’s what he calls himself) I don’t have to do much besides get the dish ready.
So it’s a win in my book!
Is a turkey burger healthier than a hamburger?
This is a good question. In my opinion, yes, ground turkey is healthier than ground beef. That’s not to say we don’t eat red meat, because we do (steak all the way 🙌🏼 ).
But when it comes to burgers, we almost always have ground turkey.
Ground turkey is a lean meat which means it has less fat, calories and is a bit more heart healthy. Especially if you have high cholesterol or are watching your weight, ground turkey is a great substitute!
Jalapeno Turkey Burger Ingredients
- ground turkey (I buy 97/3%)
- chopped jalapeno (fresh or jarred)
- garlic
- gluten free flour (any brand will do!)
4 simple ingredients is all you need! It doesn’t get any easier than that!

What goes with turkey burgers?
My all time favorite side dish with burgers is baby potatoes. You can roast them in the oven or throw them on the grill, either way make sure you plan this ahead of time because they take at least 30 minutes to cook.
I also love to add a good ol fashioned salad to the mix. It’s a great way to incorporate greens into the meal.
Some of my other go-to side dishes are:
- Sweet potato fries
- Cottage Cheese
- Grilled Asparagus
- Protein-Packed Pasta Salad
How to make Jalapeno Turkey Burgers
First, turn on the grill to to heat. Then, in a large bowl combine 1 lb ground turkey, 2 – 4 tablespoons chopped jalapeno (depending how spicy you want the burger), 1 tablespoon minced garlic, 2 tablespoons gluten free flour and a dash of salt and pepper.
Using a spoon or your hands mix the ingredients together and then split the batch into 4 equal sections. With your hands form the hamburger patties and then toss them on the grill (medium to low heat is best). Flip them halfway through (about 7 minutes).
Tip: I find it works well if I spray the turkey burgers with a little cooking spray on each side before putting them on the grill, so they don’t stick as easily.
Once cooked through (no pink in the middle), serve on a gluten free hamburger bun or butterhead lettuce (my fav!) and top with avocado/guacamole, red onion, tomato, the works!
