PB perfection, packed with protein and on-the-go ready!
Hi there! How it going? If you’re reading this, you probably like peanut butter and/or smoothies. If so, you’ll love this recipe! I have this PB banana smoothie for breakfast about once a week. It’s also a great afternoon snack. Full of protein, healthy carbs and fat. It’ll leave you full for hours!
I love smoothies, because they are so easy to take on the go. When I’m in a rush out the door in the morning, I whip up a smoothie in under five minutes and I’m on my way!
If you can’t tell I’m all about simple, easy, quick meals. I don’t want to wake up an extra 15 minutes early to make an elaborate breakfast, if you do, more power to ya! You could turn this into a smoothie bowl and add some toppings! If you’re like me, add the ingredients to the blender (or magic bullet single serve cup), blend and drink on the way to work.
Wanna talk pb’s?? I do! I like all types of butter, peanuts, almond, sunflower, cashew. Yum! My favorite though, is the classic peanut butter. I’ve tried a lot of brands, but if I would have to choose I would pick Peanut Butter Co. as the best. They have so many varieties (white chocolate wonderful and cinnamon raisin are the bomb!!!) Nick goes through a jar in about a week (and now we get separate jars ;)) I also really like plain old Natural Skippy. Side note: isn’t it funny that everyone grew up either a Skippy or a JIF fan? I’m sure you can guess what I was. 🙂
I also like a good almond butter. If you haven’t tried, it has a different texture and is usually runnier. Don’t let this deter you though! I love almond butter on apples and in baking recipes. Because it’s runnier, you can get away with using less on spreads. I should also warn you, oil will sit at the top. Don’t poor it out! Just mix it in before using. Trust me you’ll need it by the time you get to the bottom of the jar.
Almond butter and any other butter is generally more expensive, just like nuts! If your looking for a deal, head over to TJ Maxx or Marshalls, they always have good deals.
For this smoothie, you can use whatever type of buttaaah you like, but I think peanut butter is the creamiest and tastes best.
Now for the PB2! I love pb2 for smoothies, because you can get the peanut butter taste without all the extra fat and cals. This recipe calls for 1 tablespoon, but you can add more, if you want a stronger peanut butter taste. I usually get Skippy brand, but again you can get a big jar, for cheap, at TJ Maxx or Marshalls.
Other than the pb’s, all you need is a banana (preferably frozen), vanilla Greek yogurt, almond milk, and protein powder! Simple.
What your favorite brands of PB?!
