This sweet treat is made with wholesome ingredients and simply delicious!
These fudgy chocolate cupcakes are mouthwatering good! There’s no oil or refined sugar + they are gluten and grain free! If you’re looking for some chocolatey goodness for Valentines Day, look no further. This dessert is easy as pie and will have your sweety swooning ❤️
Hellooo my lovelies 🙂 I finally finished off this batch of to-die-for chocolate cupcakes! In fact, I still have some in the freezer. Does anyone else do that? I love saving dessert because whenever I’m craving a little something special, I can just pop it in the microwave and chow down! 😋
In fact, I have 3 different kinds of cupcakes in there right now. This recipe, some bday cupcakes and our wedding cake tasting cupcakes!
If you would have asked me one year ago what I thought my wedding cake flavor would be, I would have never said chocolate, but for some reason I’ve been loving it lately! Chocolate cupcake. Chocolate frosting. Mmmmm! And it’s what inspired this blog post! Plus everyone needs a little chocolate on Valentines day! 💕
These heavenly cakes are made with real ingredients, making indulging on 1 or 2 easy! And with only 9 ingredients (that you likely already have in your pantry!) you can whip up a batch quick, just in time for your special date!
Here’s what you do:
First, you’ll mix the dry ingredients:
- Almond flour
- Coconut flour
- Baking Soda
- Salt
- Cacao powder
Then you’ll add in the wet ingredients:
- Banana (mashed)
- Applesauce
- Brown Sugar
- Pure Vanilla Extract
Blend everything together, throw in some chocolate chips (I love Enjoy Life Brand!) and spoon the batter into the cupcake tins! It’s as easy as that. The prep is less than 10 minutes and it’s totally worth every bite of deliciousness!
Now let’s talk frosting!
Frosting can have a lot of sugar, but it also is the best part of the cake, in my opinion. 😏 I could easily eat a whole tub if I wanted to! I know some people are not huge frosting fans, so the best part is, you can put as little or as much on as you like!
Simple Mills frosting is a brand I’ve been using. It only has 6g of sugar per serving (cough cough, I may or may not put more than that on a cupcake :)) and the ingredients list is on point, all organic and 100% clean! 💯
I’ll let you in on a little secret. I used leftover chocolate frosting for the piping because when I tried to use the simple mills frosting it did not turn out… 😐 It tastes great, but I couldn’t make it look fancy. So if you try to do the same, just be warned!
